We recently purchased a FI9828P V2 as an evaluation device because we had the plans of installing quite a number of them at a customer side.

The cam has the newest firmware but still so it has massive focus problems and zoom problems. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. At the moment for more than a week focus and zoom does not work.

We contacted support but all they could tell us is to do a factory reset. Even though we needed a ladder to do the reset (installed high up with wifi connection) the factory reset did not do the trick to fix the problems.

Since we informed support that a factory reset did not help nobody of Foscam is answering anymore. We even offered them to pass them on the credentials to have a look themselves.

So our conclusion is that the evaluation of the Foscam failed miserably. It might be a small problem but with two weeks waiting for an answer from Foscam we cannot risk to purchase more devices from Foscam.

It is a pity since the picture quality was great - unfortunatly just for some very few days.

We will have not to pack the device and send it back since it is obviously stilll under guarantee. Due to our expierence with the bad support we will definetly never try Foscam again and go for some other brands.

Foscam doesn't give support. I.e. since firefox 52 the NPAPI is disabled due to security reasons. it's outdated and not secure and not maintained anymore. You can bypass this by setting the plugin.load_flash_only to false of course but even this information isn't brought to you by foscam support. You can ask users for help or search the internet yourself to come up with that, if you're not a programmer.

Also the IPv6 support is refused. Currently every month hundreds of thousands new IPv6-only connections worldwide but foscam doesn't support this almost 20 years old standard. Basically putting their development back to 20 years ago. that's how far they are behind.

Buy yourself equipment from companies that do give support. I made the mistake once to buy Foscam. I didn't know they don't give support. Now I know. Spread the word! Foscam does NOT give support to it's customers not even to modern technology that's already 20 years old like IPv6.

Hi Engsto3,

I have sent the message to you, but did not get your reply.

Would you please send your case to tech@foscam.com and ask them to forward your case to tech-specialist, then Foscam will have the high level tech-support to help you. Thanks for your cooperation.

Same thing here with FI9828P V2
lot of focus problems
A little research on google shows that we are far from being the only ones to have the problem with this model
one exemple http://foscam.us/forum/focus-fi9828-t13620.html
The latest firmware is from 2015
The support answers as if we were the only ones to have the problem or as if they were not aware of the problem
I also wait a long time for a fix that would fix the problem but nothing!
Unfortunately if this continues I should look for another camera for the renewal of my foscams.
It's a shame.
Why is nothing done?
This is an uncorrectable hardware problem, a design flaw?
Or just a lack of firmware developpement ?

That is an inactive website that is no longer supported by the ex-distributor. Please direct inquiries to foscam.com and the proper technical support email is
tech@foscam.com

Thanks.

message received from amcrest :
Hello xxxxxxx,

We wanted to reach out as soon as possible to inform you of  recently discovered security vulnerabilities affecting "Foscam" branded cameras manufactured by China-based Shenzhen Foscam. Foscam US has been notified of 18 security vulnerabilities that exist on cameras manufactured by Shenzhen Foscam which leave users vulnerable to hacks which allow attackers to remotely take-over cameras, live stream, download stored files and even compromise other devices located on the local network. (Source: F-Secure Report available here http://images.news.f-secure.com/ ... -cameras_report.pdf).

The vulnerabilities affect "Foscam" branded cameras and cameras manufactured by China-based Shenzhen Foscam only. The vulnerabilities DO NOT affect Amcrest or FDT branded cameras which are produced by a separate factory and R&D team led by US-based Amcrest (formerly Foscam US and now Amcrest), which is totally unrelated to China-based Shenzhen Foscam.

Amcrest split off from China-based Shenzhen Foscam in 2015 / 2016 due to issues relating to distribution, lack of security and quality control and thus Amcrest and FDT cameras are totally unaffected by these latest security vulnerabilities.

The models affected include the following:

Foscam R2

Foscam C1

Foscam C1 Lite

Foscam C2

Foscam FI9800

Foscam FI9826P

Foscam FI9828P

Foscam FI9851P

Foscam FI9853EP

Foscam FI9901EP

Foscam FI9903P

Foscam FI9928P

(Source CVE Details report available here

We recommend disconnecting your current Foscam branded cameras from the internet until these issues have been resolved. If you have any questions, please reach out to China-based Shenzhen Foscam directly.

Shenzhen Foscam currently have not responded and have not yet provided any patch or fix to address the vulnerabilities.(Source: Arstechnica https://arstechnica.com/security ... nd-remote-controls/
